Dear Reader,
Ahh, teachers and teaching. So many forms, so many folks.
This summer we will spend a few breaths remembering some teachers and some
teachings.
What we need to understand about this time, this new age
a’dawnin is that the lessons are the issue.
Teachers will come. Sometimes they will have gray beards
and speak in poetry and parables. They will illumine old rituals and gift
us with new ones.
Sometimes our lessons will come from our family, our lovers,
or even from someone sweeping floors as we pass by. We must be open and
always listening.
Sometimes our teachers will be experiences which lead
us along our unique paths. Experience is a hard teacher. It is so hard
to ask questions. But we must be conscious of the lessons non-the-less.
In this summer issue we will look at lessons from colleagues,
fathers, grandmas, divorce and sadly a dead teenager.
Poor sweet dead Jeremy. In remembrance we need to see
all the lessons in the serious light of our complete conscious attention.
To do less, to approach this issue with less than our complete attention
is disrespectful. Especially to Jeremy, who called out to us when we were
deaf. His lesson of love and darkness binds us all.
Take time to read and ruminate. Then when your thoughts
clear - write and share your own lessons.
